The Broad Prize for Urban Education is awarded to the urban school districts making the greatest overall improvement in student achievement while reducing achievement gaps across ethnic and income groups. The prize was created by The Broad Foundation, whose mission is to dramatically improve K-12 urban public education through better governance, management and labor relations. As finalists for the 2004 Broad Prize for Urban Education, both Aldine ISD and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have been awarded $125,000 for college scholarships. Congratulations to both!
