Whether your staff and students are new to netTrekker d.i. or into your 5th year subscription, you can benefit from netTrekker d.i.'s new professional development offering. The
Integration Workshop is a 6-hour workshop that takes digital literacy to the next level with inquiry-based learning and project-based learning. Participants will learn how netTrekker d.i. can be used with other online applications that apply the knowledge they gather from netTrekker d.i. resources. Activities with specific resources and curriculum are designed to encourage teacher collaboration and to accomplish project-based and inquiry-based learning goals in the classroom.
One module of the Integration Workshop combines netTrekker d.i. and Google Earth resources. It was presented to a group of educators at the Houston Regional Workshop held at the Johnson Space Center in early August. Eleven districts were represented at the event which began with keynote speaker Valerie Greenhill of Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and included 4 breakout sessions. Kimberly Cowan of Pasadena ISD said, “Several of the sessions at the Houston Regional Workshop provided great resources for me as a teacher. netTrekker d.i. with Google Earth was my favorite class. Many of my students will never leave Houston, and I can use what I learned to bring the world to them through different research projects.”
