Top 100 Districts Honored in Safe Search Awards Program

Forsyth County Named #1 User

Congratulations to the Top 100 Districts in the first-ever netTrekker d.i. Safe Search Awards Program recognizing districts that are keeping kids safest when searching on the Internet.  Districts were honored for outstanding usage in the 2006-2007 school year and for their extremely successful district-wide implementations of netTrekker d.i.

Forsyth County Schools in Cumming, GA, earned top honors as the #1 district, with nearly 6 million searches.

Best Practice

MaryJo Humphreys, Director of Instructional Technology at Round Rock ISD, ranked #14 in the Safe Search Awards Program, offers several ways the district encourages the use of netTrekker d.i. with students and staff:

1) links from our library web pages.

2) links in the librarian-created "pathfinders."

3) links on the second tab of Internet Explorer or a link on the desktop of all computers (created during the setup and imaging process of new equipment) and/or set the default "live search" on IE as netTrekker d.i.

4) emphasis on the use of netTrekker d.i. when our Instructional Coaches, Technology Integration Specialists, and Librarians work with teachers.

Our Customers
"Even though nettrekker d.i. is very easy to use, we purchased a 1-hour professional development webinar for our trainers along with our subscription so they could see all that netTrekker d.i. has to offer.  The training was one of the best we've had from an outside vendor because they worked with us in streamlining the training to our needs, answered all of our questions, and gave us great advice for running our staff development sessions.  My training staff was very excited and able to train our teachers the very next week using the materials covered during this session."

Student Use
"I needed to do a report on John Smith and I used the Famous Person search to find all the information I needed.  Also, the image search helped me with pictures for my display board.  At home, my parents always let me on the internet, as long as I use netTrekker d.i."
